Dear Spiritual Sister,
Have you ever thought about all the produce that thrives in fall weather? Mums, sunflowers, pears, persimmons, figs, dates, marigolds, and pumpkins! Thyme, sage, rosemary, and lavender are just a few herbs that are also great in the fall. However, let’s get back to pumpkins!
Cinderella, long island cheese, baby boo, turban squash, and black futsa are some types of pumpkins. The fact that pumpkins are so plentiful in the fall truly amazes me. The U.S. produces about 2 billion pumpkins annually, with 800 million of them being harvested in October alone! For this alone, the month of October is truly special in a way God intended it to be for pumpkins.
I try my hand at different pumpkin recipes. Unlike the rest of my family, I do not only like to look at pumpkins, but I eat pumpkin dishes. My favorite recipe is a pumpkin croissant recipe. I love eating these tasty treats with tea or coffee. At a coffee shop, the first thing I ask for is a pumpkin muffin, pumpkin scone, or pumpkin loaf to go with my pumpkin latte. Just give me something with pumpkin!
My daughter and I decorate with pumpkins and take advantage of this because pumpkins are truly at their peak in the fall season. We want to appreciate them while they last. One thing I won’t do is rush the next season of my life. Society will always have us living and buying out of season. You start to see fall decor and hints of Christmas decor in the summertime. Really?! If you are not careful, you will be all out of season. Live in the moment!
God has a season for you, do not rush out of it. God planted the seed, and you have to nourish the seed by walking in faith. Do not get distracted by what’s to come. Be faithful in the moment with what is now! Then, God will tell you when to reap your harvest. A harvest that is his doing, but he calls you victorious because of his love and grace.
Well, Pumpkin, have you consulted God about your current season? God will tell you when it is time to reap your harvest.
Genesis 8:22
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
Your Spiritual Sister in Christ,
Val
